Talent Training Plane for International Students in Mechanical Engineering

I. Training Objectives

The specialty cultivates international engineering and management talents who understand national conditions of China, are interested in Chinese culture, understand the political, economic, cultural and social development of contemporary China, are able to attend and promote friendly exchanges and cooperation in related fields between China and its host countries, master the basic knowledge and professional skills of mechanical engineering, with strong engineering practical ability and good engineering literacy, be able to engage in the design and manufacture of construction machinery, operation and management, and business and sales.

III. Training Specification

The students are engaged in studying the basic theory and basic knowledge of mechanical engineering, receive the basic training of mechanical engineers, and be able to engage in designing and manufacturing mechanical products, scientific R&D, operation and sales, and operation and management.

The graduates are expected to acquire knowledge, abilities and qualities in the following areas:

(i) Knowledge structure

1. Master the basic scientific theories of natural science and engineering technology and the necessary professional knowledge required by the mechanical engineering specialty to achieve the training objectives of the specialty, and understand the relevant scientific and technological development trends.

2. Proficiency in Chinese language, with a certain level of proficiency in the five areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.

3. Master the professional theory and knowledge of mechanical specialty, get familiar with relevant industry standards, norms and procedures, and understand the professional development trend.

4. Be familiar with relevant national policies and laws and regulations on machinery and equipment and manufacturing.

(ii) Structure

1. Possess strong ability to analyze and solve practical problems and self-learning of professional knowledge, and be able to engage in the design and manufacture of construction machinery, scientific and R&D, operation and sales, applied research and operation and management.

2. Be able to correctly use the national language, written expression, with a certain language conversation ability, can be relatively skilled in reading the professional information, master the basic methods of literature search, information query.

3. A certain degree of writing and language skills, organizational coordination and communication skills.

4. A certain level of Chinese language proficiency and computer application skills.

5. A certain capacity for self-learning and self-growth.

(iii) Qualitative structure

1. Know China, love China, be friendly to China, posses good moral character and sense of social responsibility, and abide by Chinese national laws and Chinese social morality.

2. With healthy body, sound personality, good psychological quality and behaviour, and a team spirit.

3. Be able to work hard, dedicated to work, and adapt to the difficult working environment.

4. Master the basic theory and knowledge of engineering, focus on theory and practice, with a certain sense of innovation.

III. Length of Schooling, Academic Degree and Credit Requirements

1. Length of schooling: the standard length of schooling is 4 years, with a flexible study period of 4 to 8 years.

2. Degree: Bachelor of engineering is awarded.

3. Credits: Students of this specialty are required to complete 134.5 credits and pass the graduation design (dissertation) defense for graduation.
