Recently, a delegation led by Jiang Huaping, a member of the university's Party Committee and vice president, visited the Arctic University of Norway and the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven in Germany, along with relevant research institutions and enterprises. The visit yielded fruitful outcomes.
At the Narvik campus of the Arctic University of Norway, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Bjørn Sørensen, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, department heads, and staff from the International Office. Both parties reached agreements on faculty and student exchanges, joint master's and doctoral programs, and research collaborations in areas such as smart logistics, intelligent manufacturing, and green low-carbon technologies. At the Tromsø campus, the delegation met with Professor Bjørn Batalden, Head of the Department of Technology and Safety, and several professors from the Faculty of Engineering's research team. They conducted field research at the Center for Sustainable Technology and Safety, the Virtual Simulation Lab for Maritime Safety, and the Virtual Simulation Lab for Aviation Safety. The delegation gained insights into Norway’s multi-level talent development model for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students and reached a consensus on future collaboration in the joint cultivation of applied talents in maritime studies and research projects.
In Germany, at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, the delegation held discussions with Professor Feldmeyer, Dean of the School of Management and Information, as well as professors from the Electrical Engineering department and representatives from the International Office. Both sides shared information about their respective universities' educational approaches, talent training, research, and laboratory development. They also explored potential future cooperation in talent cultivation for embedded systems and logistics engineering, faculty exchanges, and academic collaborations in sustainable transportation, automation, electrical engineering, and maritime management.
During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by experts and professors from European universities, visited several partner enterprises and research institutions. They gathered insights into the development of enterprise technology, the demand for applied talents, and university-enterprise collaboration models. Additionally, while in Germany, the delegation met with university alumni employed at the Hamburg Center of Applied Aviation Research, gaining a deeper understanding of Germany's industry-academia-research cooperation model and the industry's requirements for applied talents.
