Talent Training Program for Computer Science and Technology Specialty (International Students in China)

I. Training Objectives

The specialty cultivates international engineering and management talents who understand national conditions of China, are interested in Chinese culture, understand the political, economic, cultural and social development of contemporary China, are able to attend and promote friendly exchanges and cooperation in related fields between China and its host countries, master basic Chinese knowledge, possess the preliminary ability to use daily language and read Chinese materials of this specialty, possess the specialty knowledge and strong practical ability in natural science and humanity and social science literacy, solid and broad engineering technology foundation and system required in the field of computer science and technology.

III. Requirements for Graduation

Upon 4-8 years of study, students of this specialty should possess the following knowledge, ability and quality requirements:

1. Apply mathematics, natural science, engineering foundation and computer expertise to solve complex engineering issues.

2. Apply the basic principles of mathematics, natural science and engineering science to identify, express and analyze complex engineering issues in the computer field via literature research to obtain effective conclusions.

3. Design computer application systems that meet specific needs for complex engineering issues in the computer field, and consider social, health, safety, legal, cultural and environmental factors.

4. Apply scientific principles and methods to study complex engineering issues in the computer field and get effective conclusions via the processes of designing experiments, collecting data, analyzing data and information fusion.

5. Select, improve and develop appropriate technologies, resources, modern engineering tools and information technology tools for modeling, predicting, analyzing and solving of complex engineering issues, and understand their limitations.

6: Conduct reasonable analysis based on engineering-related background knowledge, evaluate the impact of computer specialty engineering practice and complex engineering issue solutions on society, health, safety, law and culture, and understand the responsibilities.

7. Understand and evaluate the impact of engineering practice for complex engineering issues on social and environmental sustainable development.

8. Possess humanity and social science literacy and social responsibility, and understand and abide by engineering professional ethics and norms in engineering practice in the computer field, and fulfill responsibilities.

9. Assume the roles of individuals, team members and leaders in teams in multidisciplinary backgrounds.

10. Possess a certain international perspective and effectively communicate and exchange with domestic and foreign industry peers and the public on complex engineering issues, including writing reports and design manuscripts, making statements, clearly expressing or responding to instructions.

11. Apply engineering management principles and economic decision-making methods to the design, operation and management of computer application systems in an interdisciplinary environment.

12. Possess the awareness of independent learning and lifelong learning, continue to learn and adapt to development, and keep abreast of the latest theories, technologies and international frontier trends in the computer field.

III. Length of Schooling, Academic Degree and Credit Requirements

1. Length of schooling: the standard length of schooling is 4 years, with a flexible study period of 4 to 8 years.

2. Degree: Bachelor of engineering is awarded.

3. Credits: Students of this specialty are required to complete 148.5 credits and pass the graduation design (dissertation) defense for graduation.
