Recently, the Ministry of Transport issued the "Opinions on Shandong Jiaotong University’s Pilot Work for the Construction of a Strong Transportation Nation, focusing on Green and Intelligent Construction of Land Transportation Infrastructure and Enhancing Long-term Service Performance." With this, our university has officially been approved as a pilot unit for the construction of a strong transportation nation.

Being approved as a pilot unit will accelerate Shandong Jiaotong University's integration into the national transportation construction initiative, enhancing the development of the transportation industry and the regional economy of Shandong Province through higher levels of scientific and technological innovation, education, and teaching. This achievement is a significant step in the university's effort to build a high-level, application-oriented transportation university. In the next phase, the university will further refine the pilot implementation plan, detail the pilot tasks, and put specific measures into action. It will coordinate the promotion of tasks such as "Green and Intelligent Construction of Land Transportation Infrastructure and Enhancing Long-term Service Performance," "Key Technologies for Smart Ship Operations and Maintenance Based on the Shipping Internet," "Key Technologies for Integrated Ground and Air Operations Management of Smart Highways," and "Training of Application-oriented Talent in the Transportation Field," to achieve breakthroughs in significant results. These efforts will provide technological support and talent for building a strong transportation nation and the construction of a demonstration area in Shandong.

The pilot work for building a strong transportation nation is an essential initiative to thoroughly implement the "Outline for Building a Strong Transportation Nation" and accelerate this national project. It plays a crucial role in exploring pathways, accumulating experience, and leading by example. Conducting this pilot work in transportation-focused universities aims to guide institutions in accelerating high-quality talent training, high-level discipline development, high-quality faculty building, and efficient transformation of technical achievements, thereby enhancing their ability to serve national strategies. Our university is the 12th undergraduate institution to be approved as a pilot unit, following national "Double First-Class" universities such as Dalian Maritime University, Chang'an University, Wuhan University of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beihang University, Southeast University, Dalian University of Technology, Tongji University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Technology, and Jimei University.
